Vacuum filtering is a technique that separates a solid and a liquid. The separation is achieved by creating a differential pressure between the two surfaces of a membrane or filter paper. A vacuum pump is used to remove the air from the chamber beneath the filter paper. Solid particles are trapped by the filter paper as the liquid flows through it. The liquid that remains will either remain in the bottom of your collecting flask, or it can be transferred into another larger container.
During the filtration, the vacuum residue layer that accumulates on the surface layer of the filter medium thickens. The resistance of liquids passing through this layer also increases. Filtration speed is reduced. Stop filtering when the filter chamber becomes full of residue or the speed of the filtering is too slow. Remove the residue and regenerate your filter medium.
Benefits of vacuum filtration
The vacuum filter is compact and has an easy-to-handle filter element. It can be used for a variety of purposes, including confirming the pollution level, cleaning impurities, pollutants and other contaminants, as well as easy installation and operation.
Vacuum filtration is characterized by its low binding, rapid flow rate, and high efficiency. It could also eliminate the risks of contamination, leakage and time waste. It could also improve ergonomics and security by eliminating repetitive lifting and pouring.
Please note that excess vacuum is not allowed in the event of a filter paper fracture. Vacuum filtration is all about a simplified procedure and maximum filtration.
