Tips for using compressor refrigeration oil

• 1. The usage amount of refrigeration oil.

  The amount of refrigeration oil should be controlled after the installation of the overall refrigeration system is completed. After the test start-up operation, the position of the refrigeration oil return seen on the sight glass of the compressor should be at the center line of the sight glass. If the oil return is too high, the refrigerant will be over-diluted, resulting in low refrigeration efficiency; if the oil return is too low, the lubrication, heat dissipation, sealing, insulation and other properties of the refrigeration oil will decrease. Therefore, when the pipeline of the installed unit is long, the matching refrigeration oil should be added appropriately.

  
  

• 2. Replacement of refrigeration oil.

  The compressor should be maintained in clean and orderly working conditions. To ensure optimal operation, safety and compressor life, maintenance work and regular inspections including refrigeration oil changes are required. The replacement of refrigeration oil includes cleaning the filter. The first replacement is performed after the new compressor has been running continuously for 100 to 200 hours, and it will be replaced once a year in the future.

• 3. Use of ester synthetic refrigeration oil.

  When using environmentally friendly refrigerants, ester synthetic refrigeration oil should be selected for the compressor. Only this type of oil can ensure good miscibility with the refrigerant. However, it should be noted that ester synthetic refrigeration oil is highly hygroscopic. This places much higher demands on the engineers and operators who install the refrigeration system in terms of the cleanliness and dryness of the equipment. The safe operating condition of the refrigeration system is that the residual humidity is <100ppm. Residual humidity >100ppm may cause damage to the entire system.
